Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami led the inauguration of a newly constructed Central School in Khatima. The event, held on Tuesday, formed part of the All India Education Conclave. With an investment of ₹26.23 crore, the school brings a significant educational boost to the local community. During the ceremony, the Chief Minister participated in a tree plantation drive within the school campus.

During his address, the Chief Minister expressed immense pride for the local community. He noted that the school’s opening marked not only a moment of joy, but the start of a new era of knowledge and science in Khatima. Dhami publicly thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan for making this vision a reality for Khatima’s families.
Personal Reflection and Commitment
Dhami shared a personal connection by recalling that if such a school had existed in his student days, he would have been a Central School student himself. He underlined the persistent efforts he made, even as a legislator, to bring a Central School to Khatima. Now, children need not leave the region to access quality education.
Advancing Connectivity and Infrastructure
The Chief Minister detailed several infrastructure strides in Khatima. These include a high-tech bus station, modern ITI and polytechnic college, a new 100-bed hospital, and a national-level sports stadium. Improvements also extend to roads, new bypasses, and bridges, collectively upgrading the region’s connectivity and amenities.
Education, Research, and National Policy Leadership
Dhami outlined the impact of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, highlighting Uttarakhand as the first state to implement it fully. Emphasis went to job-oriented education, competitive exam readiness, and enhanced opportunities in research and scientific learning. He credited the NEP for nurturing critical thinking and innovation among Uttarakhand’s youth.
Strengthening Higher and Tribal Education
The Chief Minister informed the audience that the state government had launched MCom and MSc classes in Government College Khatima. Now, an Eklavya School operates in tribal-dominated areas, ensuring broad access to quality education for every segment of society.
Social Welfare and Growth Achievements
Dhami emphasized his government’s ongoing commitment to the welfare of every community group. He cited the state’s leading position on the SDG Index for sustainable development goals and highlighted the impressive 4.4 percent decline in unemployment over the past year.
Tackling Law and Order, Securing Progress
He reported firm action against divisive mindsets and unlawful encroachments. The state has enforced strict laws on riots and religious conversion, reclaimed over 6,500 acres of public land, sealed more than 200 illegal madrasas, and initiated Operation Kalnemi to counter anti-social practices. A Uniform Civil Code is now enforced, and over 23,000 local youth have secured government jobs.
Zero Tolerance for Corruption
Dhami asserted an unwavering stance against corruption. Over the last three years, more than 200 individuals, including senior officials, have faced jail for corruption. His government’s aim is to turn Uttarakhand into the country’s top-performing state through such determined efforts.
