Uttarakhand CM launches digital classrooms with CSR push

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami underlined the growing role of corporate groups in strengthening education, healthcare, and environmental protection in the state, as he addressed the CSR Dialogue programme in Dehradun. The state government signed multiple agreements with leading companies to boost school digitalization and sustainable development, while Dhami also highlighted major investment inflows and strict measures against exam mafias.

Digital Classrooms and Corporate Partnerships

During the programme, Dhami virtually inaugurated a digital classroom at the primary school of Sarkot, which has been adopted as the Chief Minister’s Model Village. An MoU was signed with Axis Bank Group to digitize 24 more schools across the state. A second MoU was finalized with Toyota to implement CSR initiatives in areas such as environment, healthcare, education, and community empowerment.

Officials including Toyota’s Country Head Vikram Gulati, RSS national publicity head Sunil Ambekar, and senior bureaucrats also attended the event. According to media reports, companies like THDC, Nestlé, Britannia, HDFC, IRCTC, and Mankind Pharma are among several corporate houses already running social programmes in Uttarakhand.

Policies to Attract Investments

Dhami noted that the 2023 Global Investors Summit generated investment proposals worth over ₹3.56 lakh crore, of which projects valuing ₹1 lakh crore have already moved on the ground. He added that the government has implemented more than 30 policy frameworks including industrial, logistics, startup, and MSME policies to create an industry-friendly environment.

The state has also established incubation centres for startups and set up a ₹200 crore venture fund to ensure easier access to capital. Uttarakhand was the first state in India to fully implement the National Education Policy 2020. For uniformity in learning, NCERT textbooks have been made mandatory in all government schools.

Fight Against Examination Malpractices

The Chief Minister spoke strongly about the measures taken to eliminate exam malpractices. He said Uttarakhand had implemented the strictest anti-copying law in India to curb paper leaks, benefiting over 25,000 youths who secured government jobs in the last four and a half years.

More than 100 exam mafia operators have been jailed under this law. Dhami alleged that some groups were attempting to spread unrest through organized paper leak conspiracies, but assured that the state government would uproot such practices completely.

Community Support and Future Vision

The CSR Dialogue, which brought together government leaders, companies, and social organizations, focused on building collaborative solutions for sustainable education, environmental action, and employment. With ongoing corporate partnerships and stricter laws in governance, the Dhami government projected a long-term roadmap for youth empowerment and industrial growth in the state.

The state’s push for digitization in schools, combined with strong investment inflows and consistent policy reforms, marked Uttarakhand’s focus on balancing educational reforms with economic growth.

Ongoing CSR support from corporate partners is expected to accelerate digital education, conserve natural resources, and create new employment opportunities across the state.
