New GST rates bring relief before festive season

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Tuesday visited several shops in Rajpur Road, Dehradun under the “GST Bachhat Utsav” campaign and interacted directly with traders. He highlighted the recent changes in GST slabs announced by the Central Government and called them a historic decision aimed at benefiting both households and small businesses.

CM Dhami’s Shop Visits in Dehradun

During the visit, Dhami met traders and shopkeepers to understand their feedback on the new GST rates. He urged them to ensure that the price benefits from reduced GST are passed on to common people. According to media reports, the Chief Minister expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for introducing revised GST slabs and termed the move people-centric.

Major Benefits of GST Revision

The Chief Minister emphasized that the new GST rates would directly benefit:

  • Lakhs of families in Uttarakhand
  • Small and medium-sized business owners
  • Local markets ahead of the festive season

As per several media sources, Dhami stressed that the changes will encourage savings and bring fresh momentum to the state’s economy at a crucial time.

Focus on Local Products and Awareness

He also appealed to citizens to support swadeshi products and contribute to the “Atmanirbhar Bharat” mission. To increase awareness, the state government will run a special campaign on GST benefits until September 29. Ministers, MLAs, and officials will participate in this outreach drive, ensuring people across towns and villages learn about the advantages of the revised tax slabs.

Economic Outlook Ahead of Festival Season

Dhami noted that introducing revised GST slabs before the festive season would give families financial relief and strengthen regional markets. Leaders including MLA Khajan Das, Minister of State Vinay Ruhela, and BJP Metropolitan President Siddharth Agarwal accompanied him during the campaign.

The outreach marks a significant step as the state aligns with the Centre’s broader tax reforms, expected to help businesses ease costs while boosting consumer trust.

With increased GST awareness and participation, the government aims to ensure that more people not only save money but also support local goods as part of India’s self-reliance movement.

In the coming weeks, the success of the campaign will depend on how effectively the state machinery spreads awareness about GST reforms. Citizens and traders alike will be watching if the reduced tax rates lead to real savings at the ground level.
