His tenure as Lucknow Police Commissioner was noted for crime control and citizen support during COVID-19. In recent years, Thakur took charge as Additional Director General (ADG) in departments such as ATS, Meerut Zone, Dial-112, and SSF. Born in Madhepura, Bihar, and holding a postgraduate degree in Sanskrit, he began service as ASP Gorakhpur and went on to command major districts, from Gonda and Varanasi to Kanpur Dehat.
