New industrial hub and aroma park in Kashipur

Uttarakhand marked its 25th anniversary with a major urban development push, as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami launched a series of projects in Kashipur, highlighting the state’s transformation and commitment to inclusive growth. The event, part of the state’s Silver Jubilee celebrations, showcased new infrastructure, welfare schemes, and a focus on sustainable urban planning.

Urban Development Milestones

Chief Minister Dhami inaugurated and laid the foundation for urban development projects worth ₹46.24 crore in Kashipur. These included modern waste management systems, improved sanitation, and new civic amenities. The launch also featured the commissioning of 14 garbage collection vehicles for Kashipur Municipal Corporation and a Divyangjan empowerment skill development vehicle, aimed at boosting accessibility and employment opportunities.

  • Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the state’s progress, noting that urban population has surged from 16% in 2001 to over 36% today.
  • Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt, BJP State President, along with local MLA Trilok Singh Cheema, Mayor Deepak Bali, and senior officials, attended the event.
  • The state’s urban development budget has grown from ₹55 crore at inception to over ₹1,300 crore, reflecting a major shift in priorities.

Urban Transformation and Welfare Schemes

  • Over the past 25 years, Uttarakhand has expanded from 63 local bodies to 107, including 11 municipal corporations.
