Uttarakhand celebrates 25 years with focus on youth power

Uttarakhand’s 25th State Foundation Day brought a vibrant celebration of youth, culture, and innovation as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Uttarakhand State Youth Festival 2025 at Parade Ground, Dehradun. The silver jubilee event highlighted the dynamic role of young people in shaping a progressive and self-reliant Uttarakhand, aligned with the vision of a developed India by 2047.

CM Dhami Emphasises Youth Power for a Developed India

Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Dhami said that with the right guidance and opportunities, youth can take the nation to new heights. He added that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, numerous national-level schemes and initiatives have empowered young people to realise their dreams and contribute to “Viksit Bharat 2047.”

According to media reports, Dhami launched two major initiatives during the ceremony — Fit India Uttarakhand and the Uttarakhand Sportstech Hackathon — aimed at fostering innovation and health consciousness among youth. He emphasised that while new technologies are creating fresh employment avenues, traditional ones are also being replaced, requiring adaptation and skill enhancement.

Expanding Youth Employment Opportunities

Chief Minister Dhami announced several state-level collaborations with companies to provide future-oriented jobs to young professionals. He mentioned the government’s focus on programs like:

  • One District Two Products initiative
  • House of Himalayas project
  • New Tourism and Film Policy
  • State Millet Mission
  • Youth entrepreneurship and self-employment schemes

The Chief Minister said these initiatives aim to help young citizens become more innovative, digitally skilled, and aligned with global economic trends. As per several media sources, he also acknowledged the state’s exceptional performance in the 38th National Games, where Uttarakhand’s sportspersons showcased remarkable talent.

Building a Vibrant Sports and Skill Culture

Highlighting the importance of sports, Dhami said Uttarakhand is building a strong sporting ecosystem to help youth become self-reliant. The state government has introduced strict anti-cheating legislation to ensure transparency in recruitment and fair opportunities for deserving candidates.

Sports Minister Rekha Arya, addressing the event, said India’s vision of becoming a developed nation by 2047 relies heavily on youth power. She noted that both central and state governments are actively supporting young people and women in realising their aspirations. Rajya Sabha MP Naresh Bansal added that Uttarakhand’s achievements across multiple sectors are setting new benchmarks for progress.

The event witnessed participation from Uttarakhand Minority Commission Vice Chairperson Farzana Begum, Special Chief Secretary Amit Sinha, Swaraj Vidwan, and hundreds of young attendees filled with enthusiasm.

The celebration marked a milestone moment reflecting Uttarakhand’s journey of resilience, growth, and youth-led innovation, underscoring the crucial role of young talent in driving India’s development story.

In the coming months, public expectations are high for enhanced employment avenues, stronger innovation platforms, and expanded sports infrastructure to support youth empowerment across Uttarakhand.
