Uttarakhand speeds up CM’s development announcements

In a high-level review meeting chaired by Uttarakhand Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan, officials analysed the progress of Chief Minister’s announcements made on key state occasions such as Republic Day, Independence Day, and State Foundation Day. The session focused on completed, ongoing, and pending commitments, ensuring transparency and accountability across departments.

Detailed Departmental Review

During the meeting, the Chief Secretary directed all secretaries, department heads, and district magistrates to present detailed reports segregating completed, active, and yet‑to‑be‑initiated projects. These include the Chief Minister’s earlier declarations addressing development, welfare, and infrastructure upgrades across various districts.

According to media reports, Bardhan instructed officials to furnish updates on the physical and financial progress of all ongoing projects within three days. Departments were asked to submit explanations within seven days for any pending announcements, specifying the reasons for delay.

Priority to State Occasion Announcements

As per several media sources, Bardhan emphasised separate documentation of announcements made during Republic Day, Independence Day, and State Foundation Day celebrations. He directed departments to treat these as priority tasks and ensure swift execution.

The Chief Secretary further advised that proposals for easily implementable projects must be sent immediately. In cases where obstacles exist, the concerned departments were told to specify the nature of the issue and seek timely resolution—first at the secretary level, and if unresolved, at the Chief Secretary level.

Monitoring Mechanism and Accountability

Chief Secretary Bardhan assigned Secretary S.N. Pandey to create an effective monitoring mechanism for faster completion of these projects. Departments facing delays or unsatisfactory progress will be reviewed on a daily basis, ensuring improved inter‑departmental coordination.

Out of the total 3,575 announcements made by the Chief Minister so far, 2,215 have been fully completed, 777 are currently in progress, and 583 remain pending for various operational or administrative reasons.

Officials in Attendance

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretaries Navneet Pandey and Jagdish Kandpal, Deputy Secretary Hira Singh Baisera, R.C. Sharma, and several other senior officials from the state administration.

The review highlighted the government’s focus on accelerating execution, ensuring public accountability, and maintaining data‑driven governance in line with Uttarakhand’s ongoing development agenda.

The state administration is expected to strengthen on‑ground coordination, ensuring faster implementation of priority schemes ahead of upcoming public review deadlines.
